Risca Dental Practice

Fantastic experience: Massive thank you to Jessica Praito. Been coming to this dentist for years and complained about sensitivity on the one side which is caused from abrasion from brushing my teeth too hard years ago. Followed the advice of dentists for years, using recommended toothpastes, leaving it on, not swilling but the sensitivity never went. First time seeing Jessica and she did some fillings and the sensitivity has reduced a massive amount! Thank you so much!

Fantastic experience: Given my age, l have used numerous dental practices in both Wales and England. Risca Dental Practice is without a doubt the best practice l have ever been a patient of. All the staff from the front desk to the dentists are kind and professional and have met my needs without fail. At a time when many people are struggling to find a NHS Dentist, I am very fortunate to be a patient with them.

Fantastic experience: Had a fantastic experience with Dr Joanna Smith - she and the nurses always put me at ease, very friendly and explained everything thoroughly! I've always been anxious about dental appointments but my experiences here make me feel welcome!

Fantastic experience: I pretty much petrified of the dentists and have put off going for a good few years. I visited the clinic last week and was treated by Dr Joanna Smith and nurse Namrah who immediately put me at ease with chat and by carefully explaining what they were doing. The whole clinic is warm, clean and welcoming and the receptionists were very friendly and patient. I would highly recommend this clinic and look forward to my next check up.

Fantastic experience: I have been scared of dentist for a long time .6 years ago was my last visit to a dentist, I was accepted at Risca dental practice and was very frightened to go to my appointment. I attended and was put at ease straight away. I have had fillings and a tooth extraction and can honestly say it was a good experience lovely staff and never felt a thing.

Fantastic experience: Dropped in to see if I could get an appointment to fix a cracked filling - was seen there and then, sorted!! Great service, staff were lovely and helpful, can't ask for more.

Negative experience: I called the practice during covid and had some telephone advice with a Dentist which worked for me and then no problems for a while until a few days ago . I was not informed that I had to make appointments for check ups and had assumed that I would receive a letter to go for a checkup . I had assumed that because of Covid and there would be a backlog .No one informed me otherwise .A few days ago I had an Abscess and was in agony I called my Dentist .Well I say my Dentist as no they had removed me .I was told that they didn't call you or text or send letters now for check ups . However my son who is in the same Practice did receive a text asking him to go for a checkup. This has really really upset me. So just be aware that this could happen to anyone. Not a nice feeling ..Whilst I am glad that they are continuing to look after my sons teeth I feel really let down by them at the practice and I haven't done anything wrong . If I had been informed I need to make appointments I would of done so . It's really added to the stress of being so poorly.

Negative experience: Cannot get through by telephone! You wait on the line after all the information is spewed out, only to be told to ring back later! No email address either. Trying to cancel an appointment properly, to avoid being fined, or struck off and now have to resort to good old fashioned Royal Mail!

Fantastic experience: I lost a front filling while eating on Sunday. Bank Holiday Monday so phoned Tuesday morning new filling the same afternoon, excellent.

Negative experience: Terrible service avoid!!

Negative experience: Had a really bad experience. Had an appointment for emergency there. I suffer with ptsd so I get really nervous and anxious. Told them this beforehand. Once there I had the sense that they didn't want me there to begin with. I felt super awkward and couldn't wait to get out of there. Receptionist was nice, whoever gave me treatment needs to work on her people skills. Very appalling. Writing this 3 months later as I went to another dentist for a second opinion as my issue was not fixed. I would avoid these personally

Fantastic experience: My daughter sees Dr Owens there and I never fail to be happy with how comfortable he is with her. He is more than happy to conduct the appointment in Welsh, which is great and he really puts her at ease

Fantastic experience: As someone who has a massive fear of dentist's, and even thinking about going. The whole team there from the moment I made the call, to when I 1st walked in and during and after my treatment, they made me feel calm and talked me through everything. They went above what was needed. I still have the fear but know they will understand and help me. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Been to many a dentist over the years and i find the staff warm and inviting and my dentist Dr Claire Bayliss very understanding and patient so thumbs up from me i no its a bit of a wait when you arrive for your appointment but its worth it and a fantastic job i got done to fix my teeth Debs xx

Fantastic experience: Cannot thank Rees and the staff enough. Never had so much pain from tooth ache, suffered all weekend, phoned first thing this morning to see if there was anything they could do to help me. I was greeted by a lovely friendly receptionist who empathised with me and gave me 3 options for appointments for today. Glad to say the dentist was gentle and took away the 'culprit' , no fuss, no pain and no discomfort. Great service guys, lovely people, thank you so much. I cannot recommend the practice enough .

Negative experience: Waiting times are absolutely pathetic was meant to go in at half past 2 diddnt end up seeing a dentist until ten past 3!!

Negative experience: Awful treatment made to pay before i even had any treatment even though i had insurance would never use again
