Fantastic experience: An excellent Dental Practice which I have been going to for many years, the staff who work there are lovely and I would recommend to anyone and everyone. XXX ❤️

Negative experience: So first impression were not great ...had my first appointment where there's was no mentioned about my cracked tooth that my previous dentist said to keep an eye on ....she tryed to tell me adjusting my bite line would fix my tmj and teeth grinding( which is not what will help my tmj at all fixing my bite line will not adjust my stress and grinding ) ....and the first dentist in history to mention fixing an asthetic tooth chip.....just seemed like a giant money grab to me ( also wasn't understanding what I was explaining through clear language barrier ) ......also I told by a receptionist I couldnt get a clean for a month n half , but the dentist I saw said where are you going I've got to do a clean to do directly after my first appointment ....which wasn't planned or booked which she stated was part of the appointment but I wasn't informed hence booking a separate clean ...I personally didn't think the clean was good nor was the advice to get a jet cleaner which has ripped appart inside of my mouth ....yeh friendly environment but didn't feel at all useful that I visited will probably go back to my old dentist in Clifton moor ...it's a little more person centered

Fantastic experience: A very professional and clean dentists to visit , very reasonably priced thru the NHS . Easy parking nearby so all in all very satisfactory service.

Negative experience: Trying to cancel and rebook a non routine appointment is very difficult!! Phone not answered, cannot leave a message as mailbox full and cannot send a text message. I would expect a better service from a private dentist.

Fantastic experience: I had a fantastic experience with Natasha the hygienist. From the moment I sat down, she made me feel completely at ease with her warm and reassuring manner. She gave my teeth a thorough clean, and I didn’t feel a thing—she’s incredibly gentle and professional. On top of that, Natasha has a great sense of humour, which made the whole appointment surprisingly enjoyable. I’d absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for top-notch care with a personal touch!

Positive experience: still no news on a new nhs dentist, or even any sort of correspondence to customers regarding if there is progress or no pregoress at all. feels like we are being forced to pay for private when many cannot afford to do so.

Negative experience: Terrible dental practice , no idea what the manager does apart from be evasive and scowl a lot. My teeth are so much worse after orthodontic work, cracked and painful but nobody has addressed this, I've seen different people within the surgery and have got nowhere. A total waste of time and money having it done. There are a couple of the receptionist that are nice, but the others are unhelpful to the point of rudeness, when trying to make an appointment you can be in the phone for ages before getting cut off, once you have pressed option one, pressed to still wait etc. I've attempted conversation with the manager but it was like talking to a brick wall.

Negative experience: Whilst I cannot fault the dental treatment itself, the reception desk is completely impractical for me as a full time wheelchair user. All I can see of the receptionists is the top of their heads and that is all they can see of me, IF they look up and catch my eye. This would NOT be acceptable in a bank, hotel or similar and there is no reason they they cannot have a "dropped" area so anyone in a wheelchair can be spoken to "face to face" as everyone else is, especially as the business is advertised on BUPA site as "wheelchair friendly".

Fantastic experience: I needed an emergency appointment, but my regular dentist was away. The staff were extremely helpful and a dentist saw me the following day, despite being very busy. Very grateful to all. The 111 service has a lot to learn!

Negative experience: Dropped in to check my appointment date and the receptionist told me I was no longer with them and my dentist had retired. I was so gobsmacked I had no words. I asked why and she didn't answer my question and just said "We sent you an email last August". Later I checked my emails to find this was not true and I'm sure my Dentist has not retired. I am now looking to find legal advice about this situation because this can not be right. I always kept my appointments and was never late. The fact that I look after my teeth could have led to them sacking me off because I was only paying for the check ups. Lets face it people, It's all about the money now and not the care.

Negative experience: For the first time ever I was unhappy with the dentist I saw at Lawrence street. Worse than awful.

Negative experience: Having been with Lawrence street dental for 35 years, I called up to try get an appointment due to extreme tooth ache due to the need for a root canal, to be told they no longer have the capacity to see me, as I’m an NHS patient and they don’t have an NHS dentist currently employed at the surgery. When asked when I could possibly be seen, I was told “ no idea” try 111. Which I tried but with no joy…. When I called back up…. Was told we can see you Monday if you pay private Bupa prices!! Which was an initial 100, the minimum £500 for root canal treatment…how is this acceptable? If you have not recruited a replacement NHS dentist since my last one left, then that’s down to the surgery to manage patient needs in the interim, not just leave them in excruciating pain. When is a replacement due to start or is this just a ploy by Bupa to weed out all the previous NHS patients who have been using this surgery for decades. I’d actually like to get a response on this . Fantastic experience: I had toothache for 2 weeks rang up and got an appointment same day very happy and pain free.

Positive experience: Professional dentistry. Caring staff. I was able to continue with my treatment under NHS status. Everything explained up-front. Would like them to install a lift, some of the surgeries are up a fairly steep staircase.

Fantastic experience: I had composite bonding done just before Christmas on my top front teeth by Natasha. I am absolutely over the moon with them they are subtle and so natural just what I wanted. Natasha is ever the perfectionist and always striving for the best. Thank you so much Natasha.

Negative experience: Had an appt for a broken tooth, which was a 20 minute appt. Arrived on time but had to queue for check-in. 3 members of staff behind the desk but only 1 able to do check in it seemed. Dentist took a v quick look at my tooth after interrupting me when I tried to explain the problem, then said I need to come back another time for extraction. When I politely queried why it couldn't be today, he rudely barked that I was 5 minutes late and it needs a 30 minute appt. It was largely out of my hands for being late but to be told to wait another 6 weeks to have it removed is very poor - I treat staff there with respect and courtesy but he was extremely rude. Likely to now go private which is probably what they want anyway. When I booked the appt I explained it was broken so enough time should have been given for potential treatment. I travelled in and took time out of work for barely 60 seconds in the chair

Negative experience: Went today and our appointment was at 1pm apparently the door is now locked between 12.30pm and 1pm I totally understand that your entitled to a dinner break but to leave your patients outside in the cold and rain especially the elderly and vulnerable is a bit unfair surely they could go sit inside. Also the chairs could do with some arms on for people who struggle to get up and they need to be bigger for larger people

Negative experience: We as a family have used this dentist for over 30years, we registered to stay NHS patients when it first started, we have kept our appointments every 6 months paying for check ups and any work needed. Now we can't get an appointment because they don't have an NHS dentist. What is my daughter and 5 year old granddaughter supposed to do not?

Negative experience: The worst customer service ever. Was told just before my last appointment that my dentist was going on maternity leave with no temporary cover in place. 12 months of waiting to be told 2 weeks before my appointment that my dentist had left and again no cover! Why couldn’t you just be honest and tell me this so that I could sign up with a different dentist 12 months ago. Absolutely disgusting way to treat people.

Fantastic experience: Had my Invisalign done by Delia and she was amazing she even came in on her days off when I needed help, Then Tasha and lorel did my bonding which look 10/10 she went above and beyond to help me even when I had to cancel appointments all the time. They both worked together to help me and I couldn’t be happier with the results, much obliged.

Negative experience: I rang in May to book an appointment, as a large filling had either broken and/or fallen out, and I could not bite on the tooth as it was extremely painful. The receptionist noted this and gave me an appointment for 23rd June i.e. one month later. Not too happy with this response, but showed willing, and appeared one month later at the surgery. The dentist took a couple of x-rays, checked my teeth, and acknowledged that the filling was missing, and told me to book a further appointment at the reception desk. I then had to pay £23.80, and was given a date in October! for further treatment (i.e. four months later). I cannot come to any other conclusion other than this dental practice spins out treatment in order to maximise the charges it makes to it's patients. I will welcome any response from the Practice that can explain it's actions in any other way. RESPONSE TO REPLY:- I feel that I have to reply to your comments. You have commented upon NHS fees, which wasn't an issue for me. However, you state that "the NHS fees are the same for treatment which is completed on the day or completed over weeks/months". I made an appointment to have a broken filling repaired, and had to wait a month for that appointment. I attended, expecting the filling to be repaired, and to be charged £65.20 as per NHS payment bands. Instead the filling was not repaired, I was charged £23.80 and told to come back in four months! Are you seriously saying that the payment I've made will cover the repair to the filling (hopefully) in four months time? Are you also saying that patients with persistent toothache are expected to wait five months to receive treatment? I would be interested to know, of the patients treated during my five month wait, how many visits are of a routine nature, and what criteria you set for prioritising treatment. I would suggest that you need to review those criteria! - Meanwhile - it's time for me to take some more paracetamol. You have also neglected to explain why I was charged £23.80, when by my reckoning it should have been £65.20.Could it be that the dentist was unaware that I was there to have a tooth refilled, and thought that it was just a 'check-up' ??? NEXT CHAPTER! It's now 4 months later! - My tooth has had a temporary filling inserted (Yipee)! The dentist and assistant were both Very Good! None of the topics I raised received a response, or indeed any kind of denial. Having viewed some recent reviews, where people with toothache were able to receive treatment on the same day as contacting the practice, I cannot fathom why it's taken 5 months to receive a simple tooth filling!

She rang me back and said Mr Browne would see me at 3 .10 pm today. I was seen and x rayed and horrible tooth extracted by 3 30pm . Thank you all at Lawrence Street practice you saved an old lady a lot of pain.

Fantastic experience: Today I had an appointment with Alexandra Walker who was so friendly and knowledgeable that I enjoyed my visit and was quite at ease from the start. An x-ray revealed two teeth in a worse state than I'd thought and needing specialist treatment, but Alexandra soon put my mind at rest saying she'd refer me to a clinic which could hopefully save my teeth. I was so happy to hear that. Everyone I have spoken to at the practice has been friendly and helpful, so my very best wishes to all.

Fantastic experience: My husband had had two days of toothache, he called in this morning to see if he could get an emergency appointment and the surgery squeezed him in. Excellent service from both the receptionist and dentist, big thank you to all, especially Ms Alexandra.

Negative experience: My dentist is lovely, but it's absolutely impossible to ever get hold of reception. I've been trying to make an appointment for months but I can't because they never answer the phone. It's really poor service, I've needed work done for ages now and it's only getting worse because it's impossible to ever get through to someone and they never call back if you leave a message.

Fantastic experience: Just want to share the professionalism of Gemma White. What a dentist. I have had a lot of work done on my teeth and know the difference between a good dentist and a bad one. She gave me back my smile, literally, in the simplest, painless and quickest way that I did not think possible. I never usually post on sites but in this case feel that praise is due and earned.

Fantastic experience: As a family we’ve used this dental surgery for 15 years. Mr Brown is an exceptional dentist. Recently I had to have a tooth extraction due to an accident which resulted in a bridge. Mr Brown is gentle, informative and even the numbing injection wasn’t painful. Over 3 appointment he’s been brilliant and I’m delighted with the work done. I can’t recommend him or the surgery high enough.

Negative experience: REPLY TO COMMENT FROM PRACTICE: 1) These are guidelines.... this does not mean that you can't carry on providing the same level of service as before if you're cleaning and sterilising equipment. 2) The last minute cancellation isn't what annoyed me... it was the fact that you tried to re-arrange it for a Tuesday which was only 5 days ahead. How can you re-arrange something when you don't know if that person will contract COVID. It was their child who caught it. It's very risky to make re-arrange bookings like this. 3) I did try to call the practice..... about 12 times that day and no one answered. It's only because I'm on the NHS with these guys do I remain coming here (it's hard these days to find practices that take on new clients). Appointments are always rushed. Covid restrictions stop them from doing deep cleans with the tools yet I have to pay the same amount. Teeth don't get a polish or anything like that. If you're sterilising your equipment and changing gloves after handling equipment, covid shouldn't even play a factor when it comes to dental hygiene. No one should even be entering your premises if they have covid anyway. It's just PC gone mad. Today I had a consultation for private work to be done. I have 12 days off work over Xmas to get things like this done. You booked me in for a last minute slot (1 week ago) on the basis that I made it down for 8.30am. At 8.15 you called me to cancel the appointment as the one and only person who does the consultations had taken the day off work due to child care duties (positive covid reading) which is absolutely fine and understandable. However... you THEN tried to book me in for an appointment for 5 days later!!!!! While my sympathy goes out if this is covid related, I can't help but feel that the "covid card" has been played here. How can you book someone in for 5 days later when this said person may also test positive for covid if her daughter has caught it? To cancel an appointment 15 minutes prior to the booking time is not acceptable. The practice is a 40 minute walk from my house, I was already half way there and had to turn around and walk home when you made that call. P.S - Sort the chairs out in the waiting room - these are a disgrace to any paying customer. They shouldn't get to this state before the issue is addressed

Positive experience: I attended the surgery today following cancelled appointment due to the start of covid. I was shocked to see the state of the seating in reception. The term well worn springs to mind. The seats were worn away on the arms and cushion and were actually black and grubby. To say this is a bupa owned clinic I would think a bit of investment is definitely needed. On the flip side the dentist and assistant were absolutely brilliant.

Fantastic experience: I had been kept awake with toothache all night so called the practice at around 8am and left an answerphone message. I was called back before 9am and offered an appointment later that day. The staff were friendly when I arrived, the appointment was on time and the dentist explained clearly the reason for my pain before offering treatment advice. Everyone I encountered was very friendly and I would recommend the practice based on this experience.

Fantastic experience: Hi ..my names Richard and i just wanted to say that i have been being treated by Delia Dragomirescu recently and i honestly believed that i would have had to have a complete set of dentures, at least top ones BUT this wonderful friendly and pleasant bedside mannered lady managed to save ALL of them in only 5 or 6 visits. I would HIGHLY recommend this practice but especially Ms Dragomirescu. Thanks to everyone at Lawrence street. x

Negative experience: I've book for an appointment over a month and let me wait 40 min then appointment time booked. Not precise at all. I had really bad experience. They are really unprofessional. I do not raccomend to go to this practice.

Positive experience: Make sure you're never late. I've been going to this dentist for over 20 years and never have I been seen on time. However, I turn up 4 minutes late today as the traffic in York was so bad and they cancel my appointment. That's an hour wasted thanks to these jokers, thanks BUPA. Since I posted the above review I have visited during the pandemic and the staff and dentist were all excellent. I've therefore improved the score but I suspect that you should probably still avoid being late at all costs.

Fantastic experience: Went to see Rianna Monday and found her to be very friendly and knowledgeable. I over reacted to realising that I needed treatment however she detected the problem/solution very quickly and put me completely at ease.

Fantastic experience: I first went here many years ago after another dentist had given me a badly fitted crown which my dentist, Heather Burbage, skillfully removed. I now wouldn't want to see anyone else. She is a great dentist - personable, knowledgeable, competent - and she is now dentist to my partner, my sister, and my father. I can't recommend her as a dentist highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Craig from warrington I was Working at the practice 1 day fixing hot water issues Woke up with bad toothache mentioned it to Deborah at reception we can fit u in Abi and Gemma are great upon looking at my tooth and x-raying it Gemma recommended removing my wisdom tooth and with very little pain she swiftly removed my tooth brilliant service from 2 friendly girls

Negative experience: I will never be returning to this dental practice again. Before it was taken over by BUPA I had been a patient of Mr Dobson for nearly 25 years. He was a brilliant dentist. I had the same experience as Nathan Kruse (see his review below). It took me 2 hours and 2 buses to get to my appointment from Strensall. Traffic was really bad that day, which made me late for my check-up appointment which was at 4pm. When I arrived, the 4.15 appointment had been taken in early in my place, so I asked if I could have their appointment and she said no. The receptionist was not interested in anything I had to say even though it wasn't through my own fault that I was late. Very disappointed with the way I was treated.

Positive experience: No one ever answers the phones and it takes months for an appointment!

Fantastic experience: I've had a few dental issues this year and they've always made an effort to fit me in at the earliest opportunity. The reception staff are polite and professional.

Fantastic experience: Great friendly caring staff always let's me know my dental plan before doing any work. Might have yo wait sometime for a general appointment but if I need an emergency appointment they've managed to get me in in working hours. Building has a ramp for wheelchair but doors aren't wide.but they have downstairs rooms and a toilet for patients. The building always looks very clean inside giving you confidence.

Positive experience: Recently changed over to BUPA and now all most impossible to speak anyone on the phone........so how do you cancel and appointment or make a new one.

Negative experience: Repeatedly cancels appointments at short notice. Save yourself the hassle and find another dentist.

Negative experience: Had four appointments two cancelled one without me knowing witch was rebooked missed that as I did not know finally saw dentist three weeks later who I had never seen before as they said I could no longer see dentist I have seen for years and now my new dentist has left used to be a really good family dentist gone down hill massively since Bupa took over I only go once a year now and I don't know if I want to do that UPDATE: since Bupa have taken over this practice I have found out that most of the original staff and dentists I new have left that tells a tail on its own ONE YEAR ON and still a shambles waited 20 minutes after appointment time to be then told that I would still have another twenty minutes to wait asked why I was not informed of the 40 minutes waiting time when I booked in the only answer they had was was you not informed total shambles as I had other plans had to leave now have to wait until end of August
