Fantastic experience: I was referred to Colchester Specialist Dental Care by my own NHS dentist. I was experiencing some painful gum recession and localised advanced periodontitis. My first appointment consisted of a very detailed consultation and a treatment plan was put in place. Everything was explained to me very carefully and I had a complete understanding of the process. I have now finished my treatment and the results shown at my last appointment with Dr Tasnim and Nurse Courtney were excellent. I am very happy with all aspects of the Practice and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Negative experience: Pretty much impossible for NHS patients. My poor mum can’t even get signed on.

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Colchester Dental Specialist Centre specifically because they have advanced 3D imaging (CBCT) and the specialist expertise to determine whether a suspected crack had extended to the root. That level of diagnostic certainty mattered hugely to me, and I’m very relieved to say that, after proper assessment, the crack had not reached the root. Dr Tiago Pimentel was exceptional. From the moment we started, he was professional, approachable and extremely thorough. He explained the findings in a way that was easy to understand, talked me through the reasoning behind his clinical judgement, and set out the options with clarity and honesty. What impressed me most was how rational and evidence based his decision making was, while still being genuinely patient and kind. I felt listened to, well informed, and completely safe in his care. I would also like to thank Nurse Courtney, who was attentive, reassuring and supportive throughout the treatment, and the reception team for their smooth and courteous communication. Most importantly, Dr Tiago Pimentel helped preserve my tooth and spared me an extraction and the significant future cost and maintenance that would likely have followed. Fantastic experience: I have been very happy with my treatment. Dr Gajen Raveendran was very clear and easy to understand when explaining about treatment and he was very careful and sympathetic when carrying out the procedures. Staff are lovely and surrounding very comfortable.

Noman took his time with me, and I felt genuinely supported and cared for throughout. I had two root canals, and both treatments went exactly to plan. What mattered most was that he worked with me, completely at my pace, which made such a difference. Highly recommend Noman if you're having root canal treatment.

Gaj took time to explain the procedure and, having done phase one today, he gave several options for further treatment, depending on how I respond to yesterday's session. Discomfort was prevented with local anaesthetic. Nurse Millie was kind and efficient. What I feared would be unpleasant wasn't too bad after all. I felt I was in good hands. thank you.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending for years now, I cannot speak highly enough of everyone I see. TC, Gaj, and Sam, they have enabled me to 'keep many of my own teeth'. Recently my daughter has needed help and has seen Gurwinder and again we cannot speak highly enough of him. ALL the staff from the minute you walk into the reception area are friendly and so helpful. Fantastic experience: I would give ten stars if I could. I’ve been given such mixed, drastic opinions from other dentists that all seem to contradict each other, and never had the assurance that they knew what they were talking about- one said a root canal on one tooth, another said I have a dead tooth (different tooth), all following Invisalign. Dr Tiago is the only dentist who has been able to accurately diagnose what’s been going on. His knowledge by far supersedes the others. He also carried out more checks than the others, so you really feel in safe hands. It was one of the tests that only he carried out that proved my tooth was alive. Myself and my family will only be seeing Dr Tiago going forward.

Fortunately, I was referred here. My most recent visit included root canal treatment and the installation of temporary crown - Dr Tiago Pimentel and Courtney were absolutely fantastic, and I had full confidence that it all will go well. The receptionists team was also very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this practice, and will definitely visit it again for more treatments!

This week I underwent a complex treatment to remove a fractured implant post. This was successfully carried out by Dr TC, assisted by Antonia, who both made my experience as comfortable and painless as was possible. Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to the Colchester Dental Specialist Centre since early 2024 and, although I’ve moved away from Colchester I will not be changing as they have done a great job looking after me, particularly Dr Gaj and Lucy. Fantastic experience: I cant rate this place enough, i have just had a root canal treatment done with Dr Tiago and Kris and the service was brilliant and pain free! They really put you at ease and explain everything and i would highly recommend them. The reception team are great too.

Fantastic experience: I'm really grateful to both Dr Noman and Kris for sorting out my root canal treatment, quickly, with great care and the minimum of fuss. Dr Noman listened carefully to the symptoms I was presenting and previous dental history. A detailed exam and x-rays followed to get a really good look at the tooth. And we had a good chat about options and what sort of crown I should be looking at afterwards. As I'd never had an endodontic treatment before I was quite nervous, but the team were truly exceptional at reassuring me and getting me through the procedure and my extreme nervousness. Should I need a similar procedure in future (fingers crossed not...) I'll be specifically asking for a referral to this practice. The only down side is they don't do general dentistry here, but I can't hold that against the team! Thanks Dr Noman and Kris!

Fantastic experience: The professionalism of Colchester Dental Specialist Centre is superb. I was treated with compassion and respect on all of my visits to the practice. I ha a wisdom tooth removed and I couldn’t fault the pre surgery visit, where I was given all the information and my choices, the removal procedure which all went very smoothly and even the days after phone call to enquire on my well-being. Fantastic experience: Our 14-year-old daughter was very nervous about the consultation, but Dr Tiago and Kris put her at ease straight away. We all left feeling reassured about our daughter's dental issue. Dr Tiago explained everything to us thoroughly and in great depth. This was very helpful. The receptionist was very friendly too. Fantastic experience: Dr. Tiago made me feel at ease on my first visit. I needed a re- root canal I thought, as I had been having pain for some months and my usual Dentist had said I would need to have the tooth out, which I didnt want. After an extensive assessment Dr. Tiago found that I had two roots under the painful tooth and my usual dentist had only filled one, so he recommended that the other be root filled. It was a long appointment for the root canal, but all went really well and Dr. Tiago and the dental nurse kept me updated as we went along and checked on my well-being as we went. Two months later it has healed really well and the tooth is saved. I wouldn't hesitate to go back if I needed more treatment as I am confident that I would be looked after. Thank you so much

Fantastic experience: Akeel Mosea removed the root of a tooth that had broken off. The procedure was done quickly, efficiently, and painlessly, with no drilling. I have had no pain or bleeding subsequently. Akeel explained everything he was doing as he went along, and his dental nurse was gentle, efficient, and friendly. Between them, they made an unpleasant procedure quick, painless, and as stress-free as possible. I would recommend without reservation.

Fantastic experience: My appointment was a one hour assessment to decide the best course of action to deal with my damaged molar. Having been quite apprehensive, by the end, I was feeling very positive and optimistic. Dr Dhesi performed the most comprehensive and detailed dental examination I have ever had and having done so, sat with me at the computer screen and explained in great detail the images from both x-rays and a digital scan. He explained every part of his treatment plan with direct evidence from the imaging. His demeanour has the rare balance of being calm, informal and reassuring whilst totally professional. Thus far, I have nothing but praise and would recommend him unreservedly. In addition to that, the reception staff were friendly and welcoming; “soft” people skills which can’t really be taught. Their calm manner was reassuring from the outset which I greatly appreciated

Fantastic experience: I’ve just had root canal treatment with Dr Athwal. I’ve got to admit I wasn’t looking forward to it but I shouldn’t have worried. I was well looked after by Norman and his nurse, a bit of discomfort but that’s expected.

Negative experience: In general the Bupa Specialist centre is as you would expect, well presented , professionally ran with welcoming staff. However our overall experience was extremely disappointing due to the conduct of our dentist, Akeel Mosea during the consultation for a frenectomy for my 16 year old son. A frenectomy takes only a few minutes & is usually performed under local anaesthetic and there is non or very little discomfort during the treatment so you can imagine my surprise when Akeel brought up the subject of sedation directly with my son with no eye contact at all with myself & I quote “ Your options are either a local anaesthetic where you will feel discomfort, pulling , tugging & be aware of what’s going on or you can have sedation where you will feel great , with no discomfort & won’t be aware of what’s going on so which would you prefer?.” This was at a time where reassurance should have been given but it is transparent that greed was the only thing on the agenda as sedation clearly wasn’t needed & the cost for sedation is £445 which is more expensive than the actual procedure. I find pressure tactics like this totally unethical due to the prolonged increased anxiety it caused my son pre procedure & the position it put me in as a parent. My main reason for this review is that I hopeful that exposing this shameful behaviour will stop another minor having the undue upset & worry my son did.
