Negative experience: I went to my NHS dentist because I needed a re-treatment on a tooth canal. The filling had moved, and I developed an infection. During my initial consultation, the dentist explained that he wasn’t a specialist, so he gave me antibiotics and referred me to an endodontist. He also told me that if I wanted the tooth re-treated, I would have to do it privately because it’s “not covered by the NHS.” This is not cosmetic work, so I really don’t understand why it’s excluded from NHS treatment. That was the first frustration. Then, I was referred to another clinic, which was a 45-minute drive away. On top of the inconvenience, I had to pay £95 just to book the appointment. When I finally saw the specialist, I was told that he couldn’t do anything about the tooth. He even said he couldn’t extract it, and the specialist who could wouldn’t be available until the end of October. Meanwhile, I’m left with an infection that hasn’t responded to antibiotics, because the filling isn’t in place. So essentially, I paid £95 for a consultation that offered no treatment and no real solution—just the advice to wait two months while dealing with an active infection. Absolutely ridiculous and very disappointing.

Negative experience: Second time I have come away with more pain in my mouth than when I arrived didn't seem to be able to establish which tooth was the problem until I told her so I'm not looking forward to the filling experience seriously considering an emergency dentist and dispensing with damiras services also wasn't told the probable cost of the treatment

Negative experience: I literally just removed my old 5 star review i left for the hygienist to leave this one instead because what I have just experienced over this week is like... a comedy of errors. Had an appointment year ago in Damira, checkup. Dentist tells me only one filling is needed. I questioned this because I had a check up 3 months prior and they listed like 5 fillings needed but he assures me it's fine. Go to a checkup this year, Damira again. doctor tells me 4 more fillings are needed and one is very severe (meaning the previous "doctor" missed 4 OUT OF 5 CAVITIES!!!!!) Book an appointment. Need to pay a deposit - fine... actually no - can't do it over the phone nor online (unless its something basic like check up), have to physically be there and it's open in office hours - 30 pounds on Uber spent to get there and back before work, to pay 50 quid deposit... fine. Idk how or why since paying over the phone has been a thing since like the 70s, but fine. Appointment comes and whilst already laying in the chair I get handed a no liability clause to sign... never ever even heard of such a thing let alone seen it. guess they know people are usually too desperate at that point, booked holiday to attend it etc and won't refuse (because noone mentioned it beforehand not once) Fillings are done but I feel like one is waay to big and I can't bite. Dentist grinds it once, asks if it's good now. No different. 2 more times. No difference. Afterwards we come back to it, do it twice again (so 5 times in total). Literally no difference - so I just assume its probably the anesthetic, obviously the Dentist knows and sees what she's doing... fastforward after the appointment and yyeeep - can't bite at all (if I do I can literally put my tongue between the upper and lower parts of my jaw, that's how absurdly badly the filling is fit). I guess she just... grinded the wrong tooth, and left the one that was sticking out... But hey, good news! They can correct it of course - just remember, you signed a no liability waver! So another 60 quid to fix their error (and keep in mind, this is on top of 800 pounds service) because they're not liable of any mistakes they do so you pay for them instead. Honestly at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they leave a filling too big on purpose from time to time to get some extra few pounds out of you. Honestly, imagine this as a 90s British television show with a laughing track in the background and you'd get a quintessential comedy of errors from that era. I would've been laughing too if I didn't spend 800+ pounds on it and wasn't sitting in my flat right now terrorised by the thought of the anesthetic wearing off completely because seeing how things are with Damira I won't be surprised if I will be in an incredible pain due to some other issue in few hours time. EDIT: Just drove to my fixing appointment only to be told doctor's off so tough luck - not his fault obviously as stuff happens, it just... fits perfectly into this story LMAO

Fantastic experience: First time visiting. My wire had snapped behind my teeth. Every dentist I called was not helpful until I spoke to damira a reception we said she would call me back. I received a call back and schedule an appointment very quickly. Today I went to the appointment and couldn’t be more grateful for carin. She listened repaired my wire and gave my teeth a buff too. Negative experience: Awful. Noise in background so loud I couldn't hear. called to move an appointment and had to repeat that 3 times, then I asked if she could call me back to reschedule when its a bit quieter and she said its always busy and she can't. Invest I noise cancelling headsets please and improve customer service - this is a private practice and should be better

Negative experience: First time experience with private dentists so can only compare with NHS dentists. Very disappointed from the off. Reception and waiting area horrible with just 3 plastic chairs. Dental surgery was tiny, dentist assistant's uniform looked 3 sizes too big and knocked my feet twice while I was in the chair as it's so cramped. After dentist messed about in my mouth I was never offered any mouth rinse, so left with the taste of plastic and metallic in my mouth. Dentist's accent was difficult to understand properly at times. All in all NHS dentists I have been to in the past were far superior in all areas. On the plus side, the Dentist was nice and polite enough and I was given a full treatment plan with total costs. I have made another appointment with them but only as there are very few available dentist's in my area.

Negative experience: I went for a New Patient check up, was told I needed a tooth extracting at a cost of £300! I have since researched pricing at many other Private Dentists and the average cost is almost half! I was also verbally quoted thousands of pounds for a crown priced as under £1,000 at other practices the root filling I enquired about was priced at £1,500 I have also researched private prices for this - the average is around £500! A third of what I was quoted! It will be cheaper for me to pay for a whole new patient check and X-rays with a much cheaper practice! Whilst the receptionist, nurse and dentist were very nice, I will not be returning! UPDATE: Today, (19/02/25) I returned to my old dentists, which isn’t local, but I’m glad I made the trek! My tooth, which Akaf Rashid told me was beyond saving and should be extracted, is absolutely fine, no decay, no nerve damage and my abscess was caused by a gum infection. I nearly lost a perfectly healthy tooth and £300! I was also informed I had gum disease, the pockets are on the deep side but not there yet. The other 2 filings which apparently needed replacing are also fine. Today my dentist showed me my X-rays, as an ex dental nurse I knew what to look for (basically dark areas) and there was no sign of decay under my filing or an abscess around the root! If you want to keep your teeth and your money, avoid this practice!

Fantastic experience: I am really happy with this dental practice. Dr Thorburn is an excellent dentist and the Dental Hygienist Ramiz Pathan is also very good at his job. Like most people, going to the dentist is not on my list of favourite places to go but Dr Thorburn and Mr Pathan make it a pain free and non scary place to visit. Positive experience: The service was great! However, i would like to see better itemised receipts purely because I can't claim much back off the receipts that you provide from my insurance. If it was broke down, for example anesthetic, procedure cost, emergency cost, etc, this would make it easier to claim back. Just a thought is all and something I would like to see implemented

Negative experience: Was a Bupa recently changed to Damira . Same dentist who is lovely was waiting for 15 minutes before my check up which isn't really a problem. However she reckoned I need a filling replaced which is fair enough. When the receptionist presented me with my treatment plan I wasn't happy to see that the check up price has risen once again each time it goes up, the cost of a filling is now £160

Negative experience: Unfortunately since moving to Damira the quality of the service has gone down hill. Both my wife and I have experienced shocking hygienist appointments. The previous hygienist left and the new staff are nowhere as good. My teeth were left not feeling clean with scale left on them. For the first time the hygienist made my gums bleed and didn’t even acknowledge or apologise. The polish was quick and frankly felt half hearted. The cost is £85 per appointment both were completed within 15 mins. Not a bad hourly rate. I have to say whilst the receptionist dealt with my complaint, it looked like I wasn’t the first to have made one. I am now really considering moving to another practice as unfortunately this one is shocking since moving. Please consider other dentists before this one.

Negative experience: Great dentist but let down by admin. No warning of road closure by the practice meaning we were almost late for our appointment. No friendly greeting from the receptionist who mumbled rather than speaking clearly. We needed to complete a medical form but they will not provide you with a paper copy. You have to use an ipad in reception. No recognition that some people may prefer not to do this - we were just told they are paperless. Not warned in advance that they have changed their policy and the dentist will no longer clean your teeth during your check up appointment. Got the impression that patients are an inconvenience to them.

Negative experience: Not very impressed with my treatment here 11th June . Had a hygienist appointment , completed my health questionnaire prior to arriving , but first 10 minutes of my 20minute appointment was spent asking me questions, do you drink , how many units , how much tea do you drink , or juice , etc etc . In all, spent 10 minutes cleaning my teeth , no protection given for clothing so I had water dripping down my neck onto my clothes , which was not pleasant. Spent more time questioning me than cleaning my teeth , didn’t really feel any different . I will just add that , I have been using this dentist for several years as Bupa and the hygienist and dentist have been excellent. Since it has been changed to Damira , several have left, I am not local to this dentist but continued here as the staff were so nice but after today I will not be returning

Positive experience: On my recent visit here I couldn't fault Karen the dentist she makes you feel so comfortable..but the hygienist there don't recall his name but all he did was remove the plaque & tartar from my teeth and didn't bother cleaning them afterwards and it cost me £100 for a 30mins appointment but I definitely wasn't in there that long ..I would of given 5 stars but I do feel I was ripped off ..not sure if I will go back or not

Negative experience: Requested by the practice to leave a review as a new patient and offer feedback, so taking the opportunity to share my thoughts. I had a pleasant enough first experience, however had to get a second opinion on being advised I needed 10 fillings on top of the broken crown that I originally made the appointment for as part of a check up. A second private appointment with another dentist (they carry out NHS work too) advised only 2 fillings are required with another 2 clearly visible cavities to be monitored 6 monthly, so the disparity here is quite alarming. I was also not shown any X-rays or talked through it by Dheraima, or even asked what I wanted as the patient or what other options there were. I felt quite upset and shocked coming away with a treatment plan totalling £2,600 across 7 further appointments. I have had some minor trouble with my teeth before like most of the population of my age, but felt something wasn’t right as you don’t suddenly need this amount of work out of nowhere unless you actively neglect your teeth. I can only put this advice down to this practice prescribing work that either simply isn’t required or taking an overly cautious permanent approach which isn’t in the best interest of the patient. Fillings don’t last forever and need maintaining, which can be costly once they are in place and the more of them you have the more worry and expense you have for the rest of your life maintaining them. So I am shocked they are prescribed so easily at this practice in a professional environment that a patient should unequivocally trust. I cancelled my first appointment for work after the initial check up and have gone elsewhere as I can’t trust they have my best interests at heart and not their own.

Positive experience: It's was a pretty pleasant visit. I was kept for ten minutes with no reason because I was being attended to late. I feel the receptionist (as they were not busy) or the person who attended to me should have apologized or said something as I was early for my appointment. Also the doctor requested wasn't the doctor who attended to me and no explanation was given. Lastly an stray of my teeth were taken and I felt I should have been told that this would happen and am I prepared to pay the cost not just spring up the cost on me at the end of the appointment. I have given a 4 because I want to believe it was just an off day for the dental practice not that this is the norm.

Fantastic experience: Been coming here for a long time and always kind and professional. I had chipped my tooth Boxing Day, however they were closed Boxing Day, so I left a message and they got back to me the next day offering an emergency appointment that day. Very efficient. Although I had to wait a while whilst sat in reception, the male dentist there did a fantastic job with a filling on my tiny front bottom tooth. Yes it is more expensive but it also shows in the efficiency and quality of care you get.

I came for an appointment today and not only was Radoy absolutely fantastic with me (nervous patient), the entire team were amazing with my 4 year old who I had to bring to my emergency appointment! Fantastic experience: God bless this dentist! Since moving from Portsmouth 9 years ago I’ve not been registered at a dentist, always been on my to do list but with work it’s always been forgotten I rang these guys at 10am as an unregistered patient on 4/7/22 with severe tooth pain from my top right wisdom tooth asking for an emergency appointment. They were so polite and caring on the phone and saw me the same day at 13:30 After checking my tooth it was seen I had decay on my tooth right next to the nerve and the tooth needed pulling. I advised I was going on holiday the next day and my dentist advised she wouldn’t go on holiday with my tooth like this I was in and out in 25mins, no pain, extremely careful and precise An excellent dentist who are excellent at what they do I always said I would sign up for BUPA Dental Care for me and my family, and this has just confirmed it for me The bill was extremely lower compared to other local private dentists and they were much more welcoming to myself aswell who wasn’t registered and a stranger off the street Thankyou to everyone at BUPA Dental Woolston, absolute live savers!

Negative experience: Very rude! They left me outside for half an hour after I was due to go in for my appointment in horrible pain! And then persisted to be rude to me when I eventually got in there saying they did offer me an earlier appointment. Not happy with that! And didn’t even do anything to my teeth just gave me tablets and sent me on my way. Absolutely terrible experience will never be coming back here!!

Negative experience: I am really disappointed to put this out. But my mum has just recently registered and I thought I’d give it a go too. However, when I went there in person asking to be registered the receptionist (Lucy) very rudely said “are you aware this a private practice” I think as a 26 year old women I wouldn’t go to a private dental practice without doing my research. She was saying the dental practice was closed and I had to register online, the registration system online is complicated and not easy to do (and I do know how to use ICT) the helpline sent me to Bupa insurance. Was not happy whatsoever.
