Bupa Dental Care Worcester - St Johns

Fantastic experience: Dental care I have received from Anam at St John’s, Worcester has been excellent, and well supported by the dental nurses working with her. After a previous bad experience at the dentist, my teeth needed a lot of attention over three appointments. Anam is a very skilled and gentle dentist, extremely thorough in her approach and attentive to the needs of her patient. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Anam has been working with me for a year to give me the most amazing natural smile, she is kind, considerate and exceptionally skilled. Her knowledge and patience meant that I had the best results, 10/10 would recommend.

Negative experience: I would highly advice anyone considering this dental practice and Dr Nigel Reynolds / Amanda Tipton to look elsewhere. Fortunately I've avoided £000s of treatment with them. Atrocious customer service, misleading terms on 0%APR, delays, absence of any communication, and the last straw was an almost 50% increase in cost of the final treatment from the first consultation, without any explanation or ability to justify it when challenged. Customer service is simple, things go wrong, accept responsibility and do something to put it right. Not this practice, just an apathetic apology "that I feel this way". I'll be taking my case to BUPA Complaints. Time and effort everyone can do without but I'm left with no choice. Save yourselves your time, effort and money, avoid St Johns Dental.

Fantastic experience: Firstly, from the very kind reception team all the way through to my incredible and fabulous dentist, Anam over these last few months I’ve had very bad teeth and on every single visit my dentist anam her self who is one of if not the best dentist Iv met She is so knowledgeable caring and just wants to help and is so honest and upfront with treatment as well as all of the lovely dental assistance that work with her I know going to the dentist and having your teeth looked at isn’t fun but every time I’ve come for an appointments I’ve just simply had the best service. My dentist and her team are incredible professional and BUPA overall has just been incredible if I could leave 10 stars I know how overstretched the NHS dental services are and going private is expensive but unfortunately one of the only options but when choosing a dentist please just save Yourself, the time and go with bupa and Request anam she is incredible and so is her team!

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend St. John’s Bupa Dental highly enough. After some difficult experiences with dental care in the past, Hygienist Sara and Dentist Asif have genuinely helped restore my faith. They were both kind, patient, and reassuring, taking the time to explain everything clearly and making me feel completely at ease throughout my treatment. The level of care and professionalism was outstanding, and the whole team was welcoming and supportive. Excellent staff, excellent care — I’m truly grateful for such a positive experience.

Negative experience: A shambles of a dental surgery. Issues with treatment were escalated to the Practice Manager. Next steps and a timeline were agreed with the Practice Manager for investigation and feedback. Then, silence. No feedback. Conveniently forgotten about. Appalling and unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: Today rather nervously I have had 3 fillings in my front teeth. I have to say that Anam and her team made me feel at ease during the whole painless procedure. The difference in my teeth is amazing and I can smile again with confidence. I can't thank them enough.

I was initially very anxious, but the dentist was gentle and reassuring, explaining each step of the process. The procedure was virtually painless, and I'm so grateful for my beautiful smile now.

Fantastic experience: I had some dental treatment recently with Ash and he was very pleasant and welcoming. As a nervous patient, Ash was great throughout making me feel at ease, explaining the treatment and checking I was comfortable and not in pain. He answered any questions I had very clearly, which made me feel less anxious. Laura the dental nurse was calm and reassuring, checking on me regularly, and she and Ash worked well as a team. Thanks to the reception staff who were helpful too. All in all a very good experience.

The appointment system was spot on; the attention to detail, such as the need for disabled car parking could not be better. The hygienists team of Lucy and Sophie was brilliant. Fantastic experience: I was due to go on holiday and thought nothing could be done in short time left, we went through various options and costs which were resonable. They were very caring and I was well looked after. I had temporary solution done which I could have not done on the NHS. It lets me smile again and on holidays without any pain or missing tooth. Positive experience: I've been a patient for a while as I was previously with oasis dental care who took over the practice some years ago. There is no doubt the staff are truly helpful and professional, giving you time, care, and advice. The practice environment is clean and seems well equipped. I've had good care and treatment, and the reception staff always know who you are. Timekeeping for appointments has generally been good. Access to the building is up 2 steps at the main door but on one level at the back door that opens onto a small car park which is mostly taken by staff cars so overall I would say parking is a problem as the practice is right in the middle of St John's village centre at a main junction. Fortunately, i can walk there, so it's not a problem for me. The appointment system seems OK and easy if in the practice, but the website is unreliable, and if you try to complete or update your records as often requested before an appointment, the links on the most recent occassion didn't work. Attempts to book appointments online are also clunky and frustrating. There is no NHS dentist at the practice and so if you have children, you have to pay. This is a change from their previous service and a shortfall in the offer to patients. I have also noticed that each time I visit, prices have increased, and this is leading me to consider whether I can continue to afford this particular practice. There are dental payment plans in place.

I was incredibly nervous when visiting but the dentist, Ash, put me at ease. I was booked in for three fillings and have to say that despite my fears Ash did so well to calm me during the treatment. Fantastic experience: Excellent! I wasn’t signed up to any dentist, and I am absolutely terrified of them so haven’t been for years. I had some issues with a tooth (broken and empty) and so had to book in. I was assigned Ash, and I have to say he has been amazing. He was fully aware of my anxiety, talked through why I’d be anxious and put measures in place to reassure me. I had the dental check and X-rays first and the treatment plan and cost was all fully laid out. He was able to make a fix there and then to get me through a holiday when I’d come back after for the full treatment. He also prescribed medication to help calm me the night before and during the procedure. Attending the procedure I was much less stressed, they talked me through and dental nurse/assistant Laura kept checking in on me throughout. I was numbed and other than a slight bit of discomfort (which I could cope with) it was pretty easy to get through. Due to the awkward nature of the break in my tooth I did have to return the next day just for finishing touches. Rather than having the tooth fully removed- it was repaired, and two other fillings completed easily. I was also able to ask Ash some advice on flossing, and he suggested different methods. I would highly recommend going, and am hugely grateful to Ash and the team for making me feel comfortable. In past treatment I have had to be completely knocked out, but this has been totally different. I have booked in for a check up with Ash and have no hesitations in attending unlike before as I know they’ll be aware of my anxiety and will take care of it, it’ll get me back in to the cycle of going to the dentist and hopefully continue to reduce my fears! Thanks guys, it really has been appreciated!

Negative experience: I wouldn't recommend this dentist at all! They have not provided a service when you need it and only seeing private patients even though I am registered with them. I had to call other dentists for emergency appointment when my own registered dentist refused to see me. They are being very difficult and not helpful at all.

Fantastic experience: Was my first visit to this dentist today, I am frightened of the dentist, but I must say that Jackie Taylor, who carried out my extraction was fantastic, she made me feel at ease and calmed me down, and thank you to her new assistant for holding my hand.

Negative experience: Website says accepting new NHS patients, however, when contacted, I was told they are only accepting private patients. Surely an NHS patient doesn't take any larger of a slot than a private patient?

Fantastic experience: 5* Peter is amazing, I have never ever found a dentist that could anethetise me correctly until I found Peter, he knew exactly why and took the time to explain everything to me and produced a plan for my needs, he has done amazing work on my teeth and I can't recommend him enough.

Negative experience: Nice staff and friendly but after recently having a filling and them hitting a nerve accidentally, my face started swelling over the weekend and I developed an abscess. In a lot of pain over the weekend and a trip to A&E who advised me to speak to my dentist and get the tooth looked at in next 24 hours. Spoke to practice, only appointment offered I could not make. Asked for following day and told they may have one due to a cancellation and would ring back to confirm in an hour. 4 hours later I rang back and they hadn't heard back and called me back soon after to be told that someone would see me but I was an "essentials" patient and he would only see me as a private patient. I wasn't aware there were different levels of cover and always paid for treatment anyway and have private health care with my employer and claim costs back so irrelevant, but was made to feel like patient care came with a price and that came first. to me that's assumptive and poor patient care, my wife and I will get work done elsewhere in future.
